Ability To Update Demand

Overview

The ability to enter a value for mean daily demand and the ability to manually enter demand per month in the Item Manager, Warehouse, in the Inventory Control section of the screen for a given item.

Mean Daily Demand(MDD) and Monthly Demand

As a user who manages items and tracks demand, the ability to view demand by month and to define either daily or monthly demand is desired. Refer to Customer Setting to Not Consider Sales in Demand- KB

Mean Daily Demand (MDD)

Mean Daily Demand (MDD) is defined as the average of how many items have been ordered in a set period of time. This period by default is 365 days but can be defined at Admin>Administrator>Sites>Purchasing

Calculate purchasing values for orders/pos within x days. MDD=Quantity Ordered/defined days.

Demand Indicator - Daily or Monthly

There is also the ability to view demand by month and the ability to define either daily or monthly demand.

Administrative Settings

Set the ability to either manually define Mean Daily Demand or Monthly demand by month

Admin>Administrator>Sites>Purchasing tab

• In the section called Demand Indicator

• With a checkbox for “Mean Daily Demand” checked by default

• A checkbox for “Monthly Demand”

• Hover over the checkboxes a tooltip appears explaining them

• Monthly Demand: “Makes demand user definable per month” ,

• Mean Daily Demand: “Makes mean daily demand user definable”

• Check the other box

• The first box unchecks, switching the checkmarks

• The check marks are exclusive to each other This Mean Daily Demand (MDD) and Monthly Demand can be seen in a variety of areas in the software.

Item Manager

• Go to Inventory>Inventory Manager>Item Manager, lookup a part number, select Warehouse button and bottom left in the Inventory Control Definitions. NOTE: you can Recalculate Suggested to see current inventory statistics or wait for nightly run

Critical Purchasing

Go to Purchasing>Create Critical Purchase Orders Click on Search, expand the demand under the Manufacturer/Vendor, to see the part numbers that have been placed on sales orders or need to be purchased to stock. There is a column for Mean Monthly Demand.

Forecasting

Create a RFQ/PO, Right Click the part number, Select Forecasting.

In the Forecasting screen, the MDD column can be seen and double Click on it to see more statistics.

Purchasing Rules

In the Purchasing Rules screen when the field “Value (mean daily usageCost/On Hand), the accurate MDD should be considered in this formula.

• The same formula is considered in the Warehouse Ranking screen.

• MDD is also considered In the IBT section of the sidebar.

User Definable Mean Daily Demand Checked

Site setting called User Definable Mean Daily Demand is checked. When an item in the item manager, Warehouse, and Inventory Control section is accessed.

• Mean Daily Demand line is user definable

• Value in the Value column and it matches the Sys value

• S box is checked

• Nothing in the User column

• Can Uncheck the S box

• User field is enabled

• Enter a different value than the sys value

• Value Enter is now in the Value column

• Now the MDD is user defined

• See a line called Monthly Demand below Mean Daily Demand

• There is a View button by it

• Click the view button

• Monthly Demand screen appears in view only mode

• Each month is listed and the other columns look just like the columns in the inventory control grid (Value, S, sys, User)

• Since the User Definable Mean Daily Demand setting is checked

• The S checkboxes are checked and disabled

• The system will check to see what number is in the value column for MDD

• Whether it is system or user defined

• It will base the monthly demand off of that number

• Click the close button

User Definable Monthly Demand Checked

Site setting called User Definable Monthly Demand is checked

• Access an item in the item manager, warehouse module, and look in the Inventory Control section

• See that the Mean Daily Demand line is NOT user definable

• The S column checkbox is checked and disabled

• There is a value in the Value column and it matches the Sys value

• Nothing in the User column

• See a line called Monthly Demand below Mean Daily Demand

• There is a View button by it

  • Click the view button

• Monthly Demand screen appears in view and definable mode

• Each month is listed and the other columns look just like the columns in the inventory control grid (Value, S, sys, User)

• Since the User Definable Monthly Demand setting is checked

• The S checkboxes are checked and enabled

• Click Close

• MDD value does not change

• If S is checked, the system will base monthly demand based on the system generated daily demand

• Click View again

• Choose a month and when uncheck the S checkbox

• Entera value in the User column

• User cell background turns light blue

• Value column refreshes to show what entered in the User column

• Click Close

• A dialog box appears stating: “Are you sure you want to cancel without saving changes?”

• Click no

• Screen remains with the changes made

• Click close again

• Click yes

• Screen closes without saving my changes

• MDD value is the same

• Click view again and the screen appears again

• Make some months user definable and Entera value

• Click Save and Close

• The system saves my changes and closes the screen

• MDD is recalculated based on the month by month demand
